Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian arrived in Damascus on Saturday on a visit to hold talks with senior state officials on bilateral relations, issues of mutual concern and the latest regional and international developments in the region.
Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad received the top Iranian diplomat upon his arrival in Damascus International Airport, SANA news agency reported.
Last Sunday, Mikdad received a phone call from his Iranian counterpart as they discussed the strategic bilateral relations, and the high standing coordination between the two countries on various domains to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples.
Earlier on Friday, Amir Abdollahian was in Beirut, where he met Lebanese state officials, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah and Islamic Jihad Chief Ziad Nakhale.
During his visit, the Iranian FM reiterated the Islamic Republic’s support for Lebanon’s stability, as he called for selecting a new president without foreign interference.
