Ten parliamentary sessions have so far failed to elect a new president in Lebanon while the presidential palace in Baabda has been void for around two months.
This presidential vacuum is expected to persist as all the roads leading to Baabda has been blocked according to the latest political reports.
In this context, Al-Akhbar newspaper mentioned that Paris will host in early 2023 a French-American-Saudi-Qatari meeting that tackled the presidential deadlock in Lebanon.
According to the paper, the quartet meeting will throw stones into still waters of Lebanese presidential elections in light of the discouraging outcomes of the visit paid by the Head of the Free Patriotic Movement Gebran Bassil to Doha.
Al-Akhbar added the latest reports mentioned that Bassil rejected to vote for the two probable candidates of Head of Marada Movement Sleiman Frangieh and Army Commander-in-Chief Joseph Aoun.
The Lebanese paper indicated that the Saudi leadership is dealing with Lebanon’s file carelessly, adding the political interpretation of Paris meeting is based on mere expectations.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese political Analyst Salem Zahran considered, in an interview with Al-Manar TV, that the Lebanese parliament will fail to elect a new president as long as the foreign carelessness about Lebanon’s file continues.
In this regard, Zahran noted that some parliamentary blocs will disclose their real presidential candidate before their foreign operators order them, pointing out that the foreign powers are concerned with concluding a settlement exclusively.
Accordingly, the tragic conditions of the Lebanese people will persist amid an unprecedented inflation rates if the roads to Baabda Palace will be be reopened.
