In light of his latest meetings with the Lebanese officials, including caretaker premier Najib Mikati and Deputy House Speaker Elias Abou Saab in New York in the margins of the UN General Assembly, the US energy envoy Amos Hochstein is expected to draft his final proposal on the demarcation of the maritime border between Lebanon and the Zionist entity in a week.
The Lebanese authorities have already informed Hochstein about the rejection of the buoys line he had suggested during his latest visit to Beirut. Thus, his final proposal will not include that line.
According to Al-Manar sources, Hochstein’s final proposal will match all the Lebanese demands which concentrate on demarcating the maritime border at line 23, obtaining the entire Qana field, and forcing the French Total Company top start extracting gas from Qana field just after the agreement.
The sources expected that Hochstein’s efforts lead to a positive outcome, calling, meanwhile, for a cautious optimism as US, France and ‘Israel’ may be hiding surprises.
