Thousands of mourners flock to Sayyeda Khawla (AS) Shrine in Lebanese Bekaa town of Baalbeck on Saturday to mark Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (AS).
Mourning processions throng Sayyed Khawla (AS) Shrine, Al-Manar correspondent in Baalbeck reported.
Hundreds of pilgrims headed towards the holy shrine on foot, echoing the procession of Imam Hussein’s household, who were taken captives by Yazid army after the battle in Karbala in 61 AH.
The mourners headed for Baalbeck from several areas across Lebanon, Al-Manar correspondent said, noting that many of them are not from Bekaa region.
Arbaeen is a longstanding tradition in Islam, which marks the fortieth day after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (a.s.), the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (pbuh).
