The Lebanese prime minister, Najib Mikati, met on Tuesday with the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, on the margins of the Climate Change Conference held in Glasgow, Scotland.
Blinken described, in a tweet, the meeting as productive, saying: “We discussed the need to implement urgent reforms to address Lebanon’s economic crisis and to hold free and fair elections next year.”
Blinken voiced support to the Lebanese government in order to keep in power, according to well-informed sources.
For his part, the French President Emmanuel Macron told Mikati that Paris supports the Lebanese government in order to cope with the country’s hard conditions.
