Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will do its inherent responsibility to pursue Lieutenant General Qasem Suleimani’s assassination case legally, politically, and internationally.
Addressing the special committee for legal and international investigation into the assassination of General Suleimani and his entourage, Amir Abdollahian underlined the need to follow up the ongoing measures and to commemorate General Suleimani as a national and international hero of fighting terrorism, as well as the role of the US administration and officials in committing an unforgivable crime.
In the meeting which was held on Tuesday, he termed pursuing the case and bringing state terrorists to justice as Foreign Ministry’s policy.
During the meeting, held with participation of managers and representatives of relevant governmental and military bodies as well as representative of General Suleimani’s family, participants presented their reports and discussed the latest developments.
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Qods Force commander Lieutenant General Suleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, the acting commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) – known as the Hashd al-Shaabi – separately leaving Baghdad airport in two motorcades were targeted in a US terrorist attack on January 3, 2020.
Soon after the assassination and in response to the US terrorist attack, the IRGC carried out an operation and targeted the US airbase of Ain al-Assad in Anbar Province in western Iraq.
