Prime Minister-designate, Najib Mikati, stated on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. the non-binding parliamentary consultations, holding a meeting with House Speaker Nabih Berri.
Mikati, then, met with the two former prime ministers, Saad Hariri and Tamam Salam, before welcoming the deputy House Speaker, Elie Ferzli.
After meeting with Mikati, “Development and Liberation” bloc called for a speedy cabinet formation as a prerequisite for addressing the socioeconomic problems in the country.
Mkati, later on, welcomed the “Future” bloc that urged the PM-designate to form the new government quickly and to choose specialist ministers exclusively.
MP Gebran Bassil announced, after the meeting of the “Strong Lebanon” bloc with Mikati, that the Free Patriotic Movement will not participate in the new government, highlighting providing all what facilitates the formation.
The prime minister-designate, Najib Mikati, welcomed “Loyalty to Resistance” bloc whose Head, MP Mohammad Raad, underscored the importance of forming the new government in order to not keep the Lebanese people preys for the mafias.
MP Raad also stressed that selecting the ministers, especially those who will take the portfolios of finance, economy and education, must be based on institutional criteria.
Mikati is scheduled to meet with all the parliamentary blocs in the context of the non-binding consultations before he starts drafting the cabinet line-up expected to be able to save Lebanon from the unprecedented crisis plaguing it.
