Lebanese President Michel Aoun visited on Saturday Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Al-Rahi, as he hoped that the country will “get out of the dark tunnel.”
“We have come to greet the Patriarch on the occasion of the great blessed holiday (Easter), and we hope to get out of the dark tunnel that Lebanon is passing through, and that next year would be better,” Aoun was quoted as saying by National News Agency (NNA).
The Lebanese president stressed “the basic authority is in the hands of the Lebanese people.”
He noted that obstacles hindering the formation of the new government keep multiplying.
“Each time one is resolved, another surfaces.”
Responding to a question about when we would get out of the black tunnel, he replied: “Until the Prime Minister-designate returns,” referring to Saad Hariri.
