The committee of dialogue between Hezbollah, represented by the two politburo members Mohammad Al-Khansa and Mostafa Hajj Ali, and the Maronite Patriarchate, represented by Bishop Samir Mazloum and Prince Haris Shehab, held its first meeting on Tuesday.
Hezbollah Media Relations Department issued a statement which indicated that the committee tackled the various aspects of the ongoing crisis in Lebanon and urged a speedy creation of the a new government that is supposed to be able to address the nation’s woes.
The members of the committee agreed on discussing the issue of the neutrality as raised by Patriarch Beshara Rai during the coming sessions, according to the statement.
“The committee hailed the Pope’s visit to Iraq and his meeting with Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Sistani, considering that it enhances the coexistence between the Muslims and Christians and the respect for the human rights, regardless of the religious affiliation.”
