Lebanese President Michel Aoun stressed on Thursday the need of the government to conduct a financial forensic audit of Central Bank accounts.
As he chaired an economic meeting with several officials at Baabda Presidential Palace, President Aoun asserted the importance of the audit in the context of necessary reforms to tackle financial and economic conditions in the country.
The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Ghazi Wazni, former Minister Salim Jreisatti, Director General of the Presidency Antoine Choucair, and head of the Forensic Audit team of Alvarez & Marsal company James Daniel, National News Agency reported.
During the meeting, it was decided to extend the deadline required for the delivery of necessary documents for an additional three-month period, according to the agency.
The meeting also tackled the circumstances which accompanied the implementation of the decision in the audit process.
