Iraqi sources reported Wednesday that a senior officer was killed in an IED blast in Salahuddine province, adding that the explosion also claimed two of his aides and destroyed his vehicle.

The sources added that the officer and his aides were carrying a security mission when the explosion occurred Al-Tharthar valley in the morning.
