Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Shamkhani has pushed back against US President Donald Trump’s recent threat that any response to an Iranian attack “will be 1,000 times greater in magnitude”.
In a post on Twitter on Wednesday, the security chief pledged that forces mulling military adventurism against Iran will be “sent to the cemetery”, reminding Washington about the Islamic Republic’s effective defense against Iraq’s invasion of the country in the 1980s.
#HolyDefense Week is a historical document for the will of Martyr #Soleimani‘s generation to punish illusory dictators who think they are 1000 times more powerful than #Iran. Those whose hands are stained with Iranian’s blood will be sent to the cemetery like Saddam. #HardRevenge

Trump had earlier tweeted his threat on 14 September after reports claimed that Iran was allegedly hatching plans to assassinate US Ambassador to South Africa Lana Marks in retaliation for the January assassination of Major General Qasem Suleimani, the Commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif slammed President Donald Trump for threatening Tehran over an alleged assassination plot against a US diplomat, claiming he had yet again been deceived by “new false alarms”.
