Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Mustapha Adib said Friday that the fire at Beirut Port a day earlier was ‘unjustifiable’.
In remarks on his Twitter account the PM-designate maintained that those responsible for the fire should be held accountable.
“Accountability is an essential condition not to repeat such painful incidents,” Adib tweeted.
Meanwhile, he paid tribute to the efforts of firefighters, the Civil Defense, and the military who were able to contain and extinguish the massive fire.
A fire erupted on Thursday in a store of oil and tires at the port’s Duty Free zone, one month after deadly blast at the port killed nearly 200 people, injured 6,500 others and left tens of thousands of people homeless.
Adib was tasked by President Michel Aoun to form a new government on August 31 following consultations with parliamentary blocs.
