At the moment, there are at least 6.3 million infected with COVID-19 worldwide, while the global death toll has now reached 380,000, according to Johns Hopkins University. The United States remains the worst-hit country with over 1.8 million cases, while Brazil is next with at least 555,000 infected.
While the number of infected is still on the rise globally, numerous European countries have already reported a significant decline in the number of new cases and eased some of the restrictions imposed amid the pandemic.
The UK authorities said they will lift some restrictions “with caution”, while Spain and Italy also announced lockdown cancellations and are boosting their tourism industry, awaiting the first batch of tourists to come this summer after the quarantine and travel bans in other countries are also lifted.
