Lebanese Health Ministry announced on Monday that the number of novel coronavirus infections has reached 541 nationwide, recoding a new death.
“Until 6/4/2020, the number of laboratory-confirmed [Covid-19] cases in the Rafik Hariri University Hospital, the accredited university hospitals and private labs has reached 541, 14 more than yesterday,” the daily report issued by the ministry said.
The toll of deaths caused by the contagious disease reached 19, the ministry added, according to National News Agency (NNA).
“One more death has been registered, taking the toll to 19 so far,” it added.
Meanwhile, the statement noted that no coronavirus cases had been detected among emigrants who returned to Lebanon on Sunday.
The first batch of Lebanese expatriates returned home on Sunday from corona-hit countries. Some 400 Lebanese nationals arrived in Beirut International Airport from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Ivory Coast and Nigeria.
Lebanon has been under a lockdown since March 15, with its airport, seaports and land borders shutting down as of March 19, in measures aimed at stemming the spread of coronavirus. The decision of general mobilization has been extended last week until April 12.
