Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri voiced readiness to cooperate with President Michel Aoun despite political difference between the two men.
Meanwhile, the Speaker praised Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah’s stance on forming a new cabinet, saying that such position reflects the strategic alliance between Amal and Hezbollah.
In remarks published by Lebanese daily, as-Safir, Speaker Berri stressed that he has “turned a page with Aoun.”
“The stage before the [presidential] elections has become part of the political archive,” he said.
Sayyed Nasrallah’s authorization of Berri to negotiate on behalf of Amal and Hezbollah over the new Cabinet’s portfolios “reflects the specialty of the strategic alliance” between the two men, the Speaker told as-Safir.
Beri added that Sayyed Nasrallah stance “will boost my negotiating position, as it will allow us (Amal and Hezbollah) to attain what want in accordance with our size and rights.”
