Iran’s Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi dismissed the threat from US President Donald Trump that Washington would hit 52 Iranian sites if Tehran attacks American assets in retaliation for the assassination of General Qassem Suleimani.
In comments on Sunday, the Iranian Army commander said it is quite unlikely that Americans will dare to engage in a possible confrontation with Iran in future.
Major General Mousavi added that in case of a US military action, the Americans will realize what the digits 5 and 2 would apply to.
The Army commander said Trump has made such a threat to improve his image after the gross and unjustifiable move to assassinate General Suleimani in Iraq.
He also paid tribute to General Suleimani as a popular figure among all regional nations, saying the families of martyrs and fighters in Syria and Iraq, as well as all people opposed to the US and Israel across the world, will follow the late commander’s path.
General Suleimani, the deputy head of Iraq’s Hashd al-Sha’abi, and a number of their entourage were killed in a strike by American drones near Baghdad International Airport in the early hours of Friday.
The White House and the Pentagon confirmed the assassination of General Suleimani in Iraq, saying the attack was carried out at the direction of US President Donald Trump.
In a message on Friday morning, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei warned that harsh revenge awaits the criminals behind the martyrdom of General Suleimani.
Ayatollah Khamenei also reminded all friends and enemies of the Iranian general that the resistance path will continue vigorously, stressing that continued battle and ultimate victory will disappoint the murderers and criminals.
