Lebanon’s General Security Chief, Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim underlined on Wednesday that terrorism and Israeli threats are the agency’s main concerns.
In his Order of the Day marking the 75th anniversary of Independence Day, Ibrahim said that the General Security’s primary goal is to maintain security in Lebanon.
“The General Directorate of the General Security enters a new phase on both [the] security and administrative levels in order to accomplish new achievements that will raise Lebanon’s position, especially after all that we have achieved in the fields of preemptive security, combating terrorism and espionage since 2012,” Ibrahim said.
“Parallel to what has [already] been achieved on the security and administrative levels, General Security’s concern for the upcoming phase remains to kick out out terrorism [and] hit its agents,” the Maj. Gen. stated.
Ibrahim meanwhile, noted that his agency was also concerned with combating “the Israeli enemy’s cells in all its forms and [preventing] it from targeting Lebanon.”
