Top Shiite cleric in Iraq, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Sistani, urged the country’s leader to fight terror rather than challenging results of parliamentary elections held in May.
In a Friday prayers sermon delivered by a representative, Ayatollah Sistani said Iraq’s leaders should focus on defeating ISIL Takfiri terrorist group and not the results of a May parliamentary election.
“It is not correct to get distracted with election results and forming alliances or fighting over positions from doing what is necessary to destroy the terrorists and provide protection for citizens in all areas and provinces,” Sayyed Sistani’s representative said in the holy city of Karbala.
