Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday that a number of states was playing into hands of terrorists by using force, bypassing the United Nations Security Council.

“Such actions give rise to the political and social instability, play into hands of terrorism, extremism and the international criminality, lead to the escalation of local conflicts and crises,” Putin said.

The Russian president pointed out that the current meeting under the auspices of the UNSC gives an opportunity to discuss the ways to deal with a number of challenges to the international security.

“I want to point out that Russia is ready for close cooperation with its international partners on this direction,” Putin added.
