Israeli air force launched a series of air strikes on the Gaza strip early on Thursday, as protests against US President decision to recognize Al-Quds as Israeli capital continue across the West Bank.
A Palestinian security source said there were more than 10 strikes on targets across Gaza, noting that the targets included a Hamas naval site and a military base near the Shati refugee camp in northern Gaza.
Israeli occupation army said the airstrikes hit Hamas targets after rockets were reportedly fired from Gaza at occupied territories.
Earlier on Wednesday, the occupation army press service said that the so-called Kerem Shalom border crossing which is used for goods transfer between Gaza and the occupied territories, and the Erez pedestrian crossing would be closed on Thursday.
Meanwhile on Wednesday, confrontations between Palestinian protesters and occupation forces continue to take place in several areas across West Bank.
Clashes erupted between Palestinian youth and Israeli soldiers in several areas across the Al-Khalil (Hebron) district in the southern West Bank.
Five Palestinians were injured, including a journalist, as occupation soldiers fired tear gas and stun grenades into crowds, Maan news agency reported, adding that IOF also forced Palestinian shop owners to close their stores.
In the northern part of Bethlehem City, in front of Israeli separation wall, clashes erupted between Palestinian youth and Israeli forces who fired tear gas and rubber-coated steel bullets at protesters.
Two rubber-coated steel bullet injuries were reported. Among the injured was human rights activist, lawyer Farid al-Atrash, according to Maan.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society said in a statement on Wednesday that “the Israeli army has rounded up 260 Palestinians since Trump’s declaration.”
Earlier on Tuesday, the Palestinian Red Crescent said that it had provided medical assistance to over 1,795 people across the West Bank and Gaza Strip since Trump’s decision last week.
