House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Thursday received the head of the Lebanese “Association of Economic Journalists,” Sabine Oueiss, and members of the administrative body, affirming: “We would be happy if the war of extermination that the Palestinian people have been subjected to for two years in the Gaza Strip were to cease.”
Speaker Berri, however, stressed the need to be wary of Israel’s reneging on the agreement, “as it has always evaded all agreements and covenants it has concluded, the most recent of which was the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon last November, to which Lebanon fully adhered in the area south of the Litani River, as acknowledged by those who agree with or oppose the resistance and Hezbollah.”
He added: “The resistance has not fired a single shot since November 27, 2024, while Israel, instead of withdrawing, releasing prisoners, and halting its aggression, has occupied areas it had not previously occupied and destroyed entire villages.”
Speaker Berri also received at the second presidential headquarters in Ain al-Tineh, the Deputy Secretary-General for Peace, Security and Defense at the European External Action Service, Charles Fries, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra De Waele.
