Two Israeli occupation soldiers were injured—one seriously—on Wednesday when an explosive device detonated, targeting their military vehicle near the 104 crossing at the entrance to the city of Tulkarm in the northern occupied West Bank, according to Israeli Radio.
The enemy radio added that the commander of the Central Command issued a decision to impose a comprehensive siege on Tulkarm following the explosion. Large occupation forces have since begun combing the city and its surroundings.
In a subsequent statement, the Israeli occupation army announced it had closed the entrances to Tulkarm and begun conducting extensive searches as part of the tightened security measures following the attack.
Meanwhile, the Al-Quds Brigades – Tulkarm Battalion declared responsibility for the operation, confirming its fighters detonated an explosive device near a checkpoint in Tulkarm and that the operation resulted in injuries.
This incident occurs as the Israeli occupation authorities are proceeding with plans to seize control of the West Bank, or parts of it. This includes escalating talk of establishing what it calls the “Emirate of Hebron” and separating it from the Palestinian Authority—a move rejected by Palestinians.
In parallel with its war on the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation army and settlers have escalated their aggression in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. According to Palestinian data, these actions have resulted in the deaths of at least 1,017 Palestinians, the injury of approximately 7,000 others, and the arrest of more than 18,500.
