The shrine of Sayyida Khawla (A.S) in Baalbek hosted a large-scale commemoration of the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (A.S.), as thousands of worshippers arrived in procession from regions across Lebanon. Participants marched on foot to the shrine to renew their pledge of allegiance to the Imam, his family, and his companions.
Tents have been set up around the holy shrine to serve pilgrims and provide them with food and drink. This ceremony is being held in compliance with health protocols.
Organizers and attendees described the gatherings as an affirmation of the values for which Imam Hussein and his followers gave their lives—upholding truth over falsehood—and credited their sacrifice with founding a school of sacrifice and revolution that endures today.
Throughout the event, crowds repeatedly raised the slogan “Humiliation is out of our reach,” saying the refrain stands above the voices of oppressors and the arrogant. The commemoration concluded with renewed vows to preserve the memory and principles of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and his supporters.
