Lebanese Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal said on Friday that the national army forces have been deployed to the area in south Lebanon to the south of Litani River, as the Israeli enemy continues occupation of five points in the region.
In an address at the Ministry of Defense in Yarze, east of capital Beirut, General Haykal congratulated officers on the Army Day, stressing the institution’s effective role despite Lebanon’s difficult circumstances.
He highlighted the Army’s readiness amid rising Israeli violations, which have led to casualties and destruction, affirming: “We are proud of our martyrs and wounded who have sacrificed for the nation.”
Moreover, General Haykal emphasized ongoing efforts to preserve stability, protect borders, curb smuggling, and address external threats, noting continuous coordination with Syrian authorities on border security.
The commander said that the Lebanese Army Forces were deployed south of the Litani River in close cooperation with UNIFIL, despite Israel’s continued occupation of positions seized during its recent assault.

He commended southern residents for their cooperation and reiterated ongoing communication with the Tripartite Mechanism overseeing the ceasefire between Lebanon and Zionist entity.
Earlier on Thursday, four Lebanese citizens were martyred as the Israeli enemy launched large-scale raids on areas across south Lebanon.
The Israeli enemy continues to bomb southern Lebanon almost daily and maintains occupation over five posts along the southern border, in violation of a ceasefire deal reached following a brutal 66-day Israeli war between September and November 2024.
The Zionist occupation has also struck Beirut four times since the ceasefire agreement.
At least 230 Lebanese people have been martyred in the Israeli attacks since the ceasefire took effect on November 27, 2024.
