The personal qualifications of the diplomats appointed by the US administration may affect their performance as they vary from one to another. However, the US arrogance and ego reflect themselves in most of diplomatic remarks.
Morgan Ortagus is one of the blatant samples of the undiplomatic diplomats who disrespected the entire Lebanese nation when it thanked ‘Israel’ for “defeating Hezbollah” during the recent war while making its remarks after meeting President Jospeh Aoun at Baabda Palace.

The presidential press office issued later a statement in which it acquitted the presidency from Otrtagus remarks, reflecting the embarrassment the US diplomat caused for President Aoun.
In the same meeting, Ortagus appeared to be wearing a Star of David ring, and social media users accused her of being more Zionist than her predecessors.
Although her recent visit to Lebanon was described by most of the official she met with as positive, the overall tense and negative atmosphere that characterizes her performance in Lebanon remains dominating due to the US insistence on pro-Israeli policies.
The Lebanese political figure Walid Jumblatt questioned this policy, saying “Ortagus conditions are impossible, including excising Hezbollah, including Hezbollah’s weapons. But have they determined all the locations? Is there readiness to support LAF which needs weapons?…no assistance for LAF without reform, but I can’t understand link between banking sector, appointments and the LAF. Today, 10/7 used to destroy Gaza, and if Hezbollah is excised, Lebanon will be completely violated — and there are many people who believe in Hezbollah’s ideas.”
Ortagus responded angrily, disrespecting Jumblatt and all the political value he represents.
“Crack is whack, Walid,” she said via her X account. The expression serves as a warning against crack cocaine use, which was rampant in major cities across the United States during the mid to late 1980s.
Consequently, Jumblatt, who is considered as one of the Lebanese politicians who are allied with the US administration, responded to Ortagus by mentioning the title of the novel “The Ugly American”.
The Ugly American is a 1958 political novel by Eugene Burdick and William Lederer that depicts the failures of the U.S. diplomatic corps in Southeast Asia.
Thus, Jumblatt criticized Ortagus and responded to her harshly without using her undiplomatic approach.
“The ugly American, Morgan Ortagus,” he posted via his X account.
