The foreign ministers of the three guarantor states of the Astana process – dedicated to ending the armed conflict in Syria – will convene for a meeting in the Qatari capital, Doha, on the sidelines of the Doha Forum 2024, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced.
Speaking to reporters after a cabinet meeting in Tehran on Wednesday, Araqchi revealed that he will join his Russian and Turkish counterparts for a ministerial meeting of the Astana process in Doha. He explained that the Astana format meeting will be held in Doha solely because the three ministers will be participating in the Doha Forum 2024.

Araqchi noted that the upcoming Astana process session will exclude Qatar, even though the meeting itself will take place in Doha. The top Iranian diplomat is scheduled to visit Baghdad before traveling to Qatar.
