A Palestinian was martyred and an Israeli officer was injured on Tuesday in an alleged West Bank stabbing attack at the Tunnels Checkpoint, south of occupied Al-Quds.
WAFA news agency quoted security sources as saying that Israeli occupation forces killed a young man at the tunnels checkpoint northwest of Beit Jala, west of Bethlehem, on the pretext that he allegedly carried out a stabbing operation near the checkpoint.
The sources added that the occupation forces closed the southern entrance to the town of Al-Khader “Al-Nashash” with an iron gate and prevented movement between the governorates of Al-Khalil (Hebron) and Bethlehem.
For its oart, Israeli ambulance service, Magen David Adom, said one of its teams was treating a female officer.
Israeli occupation police said that the alleged stabber was shot and “neutralized” by security personnel and Border Police officers at the scene, as reported by The Times of Israel.
Reporting the details of the attack, the Israeli occupation police said that “a bus driving from the West Bank to Jerusalem was stopped at the checkpoint, and the passengers were taken off the bus for questioning to ensure that they had legal entry permits.”
The occupation police said that “one of the passengers who was being questioned lunged at a Border Police officer with a screwdriver and stabbed her,” adding that “other officers at the scene opened fire at the assailant, killing him.”
