Member of Loyalty to Resistance Bloc and Head of the Telecommunications Committee in the Lebanese Parliament Dr. Ibrahim Al-Moussawi issued on Thursday a statement, deploring the reports about handing over an Israeli settler to the enemy unilaterally and without any prisoner exchange operation.
“We, as well as the Lebanese, were surprised by the Israeli enemy’s announcement that it had received an Israeli from the Lebanese authorities in a unilateral move. Lebanon did not receive any of its citizens held captive by the enemy, which raises deep questions and doubts about the authorities’ negligence and failure to take advantage of the available opportunity to conclude a prisoner exchange with the other party.”
MP Al-Moussawi maintained that what happened on the part of the Lebanese authorities in this regard is condemnable, reprehensible, and shocking to the people, adding that it must be questioned and held accountable by the relevant authorities, as “it reflects the disregard and irresponsibility of the party managing this extremely important national issue during these sensitive circumstances.”
“What happened clearly and blatantly reveals the inability of the competent authority to properly assume its responsibilities, especially in a serious and important issue such as the that of prisoners and detainees in enemy prisons. This has deeply shocked their families and loved ones, sending a message of shame and betrayal to them and to the Lebanese people that their state is disinterested, does not know how to utilize its strengths, and is squandering them for nothing while the enemy persists. The occupier is escalating its crimes, attacks, and violations.”
The relevant officials in power must clearly and completely explain to the Lebanese people, especially the families of the prisoners, the truth of what happened, according to MP Moussawi who added that the competent judicial and security authorities must also open a comprehensive investigation to uncover the truth of what happened so that appropriate action can be taken accordingly.
The Israeli prime minister’s office announced on Thursday that the entity received from Lebanon via the Red Cross an Israeli without releasing any of the Lebanese captives.
The Lebanese Prisoners Community denounced the move, wondering how the Lebanese authorities release the Israeli prisoner and disregard the cause of the Lebanese captives held by the enemy.
