The United States is working to arrange a meeting between the new authorities in Syria and Israeli premier next month, a report said on Friday.
Washington is working to organize a meeting between Syrian Interim Leader Ahmad Al-Sharaa and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and with the participation of US President Donald Trump, during the UN General Assembly in New York next month, Sky News Arabia reported.
The report added that Syria’s recent appointment of a new representative to the United Nations may indicate that the meeting will take place on the sidelines of the General Assembly.
Earlier this week, Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer on Tuesday, state news agency SANA reported, the first such confirmation by Syria after decades of Damascus’ refusal to hold any form of engagement with the Israeli enemy.

The US-mediated talks discussed “de-escalation and non-interference in Syria’s internal affairs” and resulted in “understandings that support stability in the region”, the agency said.
Al-Shaibani and Dermer had reportedly met in Baku in late July, and in Paris before that, according to reports.
