Masses mark Ashura across Lebanon on Wednesday amid unprecedented conditions this year as south Lebanon has been uprising against Israeli enemy in support of Gaza which has been under brutal Israeli aggression for nearly ten months.
In Beirut’s southern Suburb, Dahiyeh, massive rally was held to mark the epic battle of Karbala when Imam Hussein (A.S) was martyred along with his 72 companions, in 61 Hijri /680 AD after fighting courageously for justice against thousands of soldiers of the Umayyad caliph, Yazid I.
“At your service O’ Hussein,” hundreds of thousands of mourners, dressed in black, chanted in Beirut’s Dahiyeh as they held black flags as well as Palestinian and Hezbollah flags.
In Baalbeck, mass rally also took place in the northeastern city, where citizens took to streets following mourning ceremonies, renewing allegiance to Imam Hussein and the path of resistance.
Head of Hezbollah Juristic Council His Eminence Sheikh Mohammad Yazbek addressed the rally in Baalbeck, saying: “All marches across Lebanon today confirm rejection to Israeli oppression, voice support for Palestine.”
“Resistance will emerge victorious,” the top Hezbollah official stated.
As Ashura symbolizes humanity’s struggle against injustice, tyranny and oppression, Lebanese mourners chanted in support of Gaza and anti-Israel slogans, echoing Hezbollah Secretary General stances which he repeatedly announced.
“Hezbollah has been engaging in the battle in support of Gaza with a clear horizon,” Sayyed Nasrallah said Tuesday night during Ashura ceremony in Dahiyeh.
