The occupied West Bank erupted with resistance as Palestinian fighters clashed with Israeli occupation forces following a spate of raids in multiple towns and cities. In dramatic clashes, with fierce confrontations, detonations of improvised explosive devices, and heavy gunfire, the events resulted in the tragic death of a young Palestinian, Adham Al-Bajer, in al-Bireh.
At dawn, IOF stormed Tubas and met with determined resistance from Palestinian fighters who used IEDs and machine gunfire to repel them. After a standoff that lasted for three hours, the IOF withdrew having arrested one Palestinian. Similar scenes in Qalqilya where Resistance fighters violently confronted IOF soldiers who also opened fire on municipality workers in Soufin. In Sair, IOF forces arrested the Palestinian youth Youssef Amer after storming his home.

Further north, two young men in Shuwaika were detained. IOF forces, further on, arrested Naim Al-Jabri, his son Diyar, and two children in al-Arroub camp and al-Rahwa suburb. In Shuafat camp, the IOF withdrew after heavy deployment of tear gas. These raids included currency exchange shops in Ramallah, Areeha, and al-Bireh.
The spiking violence has created concern within the Israeli military and intelligence leadership. Above all, there has been anxiety in media reports about the ‘Lebanonization’ of the West Bank, drawing parallels to the resistance that was faced by Israel while it occupied Lebanon. In this regard, the growing use of IEDs, some containing tens of kilograms of explosives, has raised the threat level significantly.
The latest upsurge, as fanned by the ‘Al-Aqsa Flood’ operation on October 7, has all pointed to a profound change in the tactic and capabilities of the Palestinian Resistance. IED usage has turned out to be very effective in hitting hard at the heavily armed IOF, by making them drive armored bulldozers to clear potential explosive areas.
