Iran is gearing up for a presidential election on June 28 in the wake of the tragic passing of President Ebrahim Raisi. The election date was confirmed today in an agreement between Iran’s Guardian Council and the Elections Commission.
Candidates will have the opportunity to register from June 10 to 14, with the electoral campaign period set to begin on June 23 and run until the morning of July 7. The new president is expected to be appointed on July 8.

Following President Raisi’s untimely death in a helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan Province, First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber has assumed his duties with the approval of Leader of the Revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Iranian government has expressed its condolences to the Iranian people and Leader of the Revolution Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei over the loss of President Raisi. It highlighted Raisi’s dedication to serving the country and his commitment to its development and prosperity.
As Iran prepares to bid farewell to President Raisi, the country looks ahead to a new chapter with the upcoming presidential election.
