Syrian President Bashar Assad slammed policies adopted by European states towards Syria, stressing that such policies led to the spread of terrorism across the region and the world as well.
As he received on Sunday a European parliamentary delegation, President Assad pointed out to the scale of the disinformation carried out by most of the Western media outlets throughout the years of the war in Syria.
The western media lost its credibility even among the Western public opinion itself, the Syrian leader told the delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs Javier Couso, SANA news agency reported.
In this context, Assad noted that European parliamentarians have recently intensified their visits to Syria in a bid to witness the reality.
Assad “asserted that the wrong polices pursued by several European countries towards Syria and the region in general, policies which are represented by supporting extremism and terrorism and imposing economic sanctions on people, have led to what we are witnessing nowadays in terms of the spread of terrorism and the flow of large numbers of refugees to those countries.”
For their part, the members of the delegation, who belong to several European states and parties, confirmed their intention to proceed with their efforts to correct the erroneous views both on the political and popular levels towards the events in Syria, according to SANA.
