Arriving in New York for a United Nations Security Council session, Amir-Abdollahian emphasized that Iran does not seek escalation but is defending its legitimate right to self-defense. The minister warned that Israel’s actions could further destabilize the region.
The Security Council meeting will address the situation in Gaza, where Israel’s ongoing war has resulted in a staggering death toll exceeding 34,000, with a majority being women and children. Iran is advocating for immediate ceasefire efforts and the provision of humanitarian aid to the affected population.
