The Yemeni armed forces’ targeting of the ship “Rubimar” on February 18 resulted in severe damage, causing the British vessel to sink in the Gulf waters.
As Gulf water seeped into the hull of the British ship Rubimmar, it began to sink, eventually disappearing beneath the water’s surface.
The Yemeni Armed Forces announced on February 19 that they had targeted a British ship in the Gulf of Aden using suitable naval missiles.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, stated, “Our naval forces targeted the British ship Rubymar with several naval missiles, resulting in a direct and effective hit.”
Brigadier General Saree highlighted that the operation in the Gulf of Aden successfully disabled the British ship, putting it at risk of sinking due to the significant damage.
However, he emphasized that the crew of the British ship was safely evacuated during the operation.
Red Sea Attacks for Gaza War
On Tuesday, a spokesperson for Yemen’s Ansarullah stated that the group’s operations in the Red Sea, which have involved missiles and drones targeting international shipping, would only cease when Israeli aggression against Gaza ends and the siege is lifted.
Mohammed Abdulsalam, when asked if attacks on ships would stop with a Gaza ceasefire deal, indicated that the situation would be reviewed if the siege ended and humanitarian aid could freely enter Gaza.
In Sanaa, Yemen’s Defense Minister had declared that the era of hegemonic influence over international waters is over, reiterating that operations will continue until the Israeli war on Gaza ends.
Major General Mohammed al-Atifi, speaking at a graduation ceremony of Yemeni cadets in Hodeidah, stated, “The US, London, and Israel must recognize that controlling geography and claiming guardianship over the seas is now a rejected and unwelcome approach.”
He vowed, “As long as the atrocities by the Zionists continue in Gaza, we will persist in our operations against the usurping entity. Washington has supported and enabled the Zionist entity in its genocidal war against our Palestinian brothers and sisters.”
Since November 19 of the previous year, the Yemeni armed forces have been conducting operations against ships associated with the Israeli occupation or heading to its ports in solidarity with the Gaza Strip. Gaza has been under Zionist aggression for over four months, supported by the United States and Western nations.
