Yemeni Armed Forces announced on Monday targeting a UK ship in the Gulf of Aden and downing a US MQ9 Reaper drone in Al-Hudeidah.
In a statement, Spokesman of the Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree said the Yemeni naval forces “carried out a specific military operation, targeting a British ship in the Gulf of Aden, ‘RUBYMAR’, with a number of appropriate naval missiles.”
“The ship suffered catastrophic damages and came to a complete halt,” the spokesperson said, noting that the vessel was at “at risk of potential sinking.”
Earlier, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that it had “received a report of an incident 35NM (nautical miles) south of Al Mukha, Yemen.”

“Military authorities report crew have abandoned the vessel. Vessel at anchor and all crew are safe,” the statement read, adding that “military authorities remain on scene to provide assistance.”
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. added that the Yemeni air defenses shot down a US drone (MQ9) with an appropriate missile while it was carrying out hostile missions in Al-Hudeidah.
He reiterated that the Yemeni Armed Forces “will not hesitate to take further military measures and carry out more qualitative operations against all hostile targets in defense of dear Yemen and in support of the Palestinian people.”
Saree also affirmed that the “military operations of the Yemeni Armed Forces in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea will not cease until the aggression is stopped and the siege on the Gaza Strip is lifted.”
The Yemeni Armed Forces have staged, since late November, dozens of attacks on Israeli-linked vessels in the Rea Sea. The attacks have been in solidarity with the Palestinian people and resistance who have been under brutal aggression by the Israeli occupation since October 7th.
Al-Manar has prepared this videograph listing the Yemeni operations from November 19, 2023 till February 1, 2024.
