Two people were martyred in Damascus when Israeli military aircraft carried out an airstrike on a residential building in the southwestern sector of the Syrian capital on Wednesday morning.
According to the state-run al-Ikhbariyah Syria television news channel, the Israeli attack used several missiles to target an apartment in the Kfar Sousa residential neighborhood.

Images published by the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) showed the exterior of the multi-story building partially blackened and with blown-out windows as well as damages inflicted to cars parked in the vicinity.
A few days ago, the Israeli occupation launched an air attack from the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting several locations in the Damascus countryside. The Syrian air defense forces successfully intercepted some of the aggression’s missiles.
Prior to this, the Syrian military reported shooting down two drones that had violated Syrian airspace from the Golan Heights. This incident coincided with the air defenses responding to hostile targets near Damascus.
Syria has condemned the Israeli aggressive actions, stating that they pose a threat to regional and international peace and security. It emphasized that Israel’s ongoing aggression aims to expand and escalate its attacks in the region, diverting attention from its war crimes against the Palestinian people.
Syria reaffirmed its right to defend its sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity. It stated that Israeli attacks will not deter it from combating terrorism, which it alleges is supported by Israel and its allies, nor will it weaken its resolve to reclaim its occupied territories.
Despite Syria’s calls to the United Nations Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council to stop Israel’s aggressive policies, no action has been taken due to American support for the Zionist entity and the “veto” power held by certain members.
The increase in Israeli aggression against Syria follows Tel Aviv’s recent military actions in the besieged Gaza Strip.
The Zionist entity initiated the war on Gaza on October 7 in response to Hamas launching Operation al-Aqsa Flood in the occupied territories, retaliating against the Tel Aviv regime’s continuous crimes in the occupied West Bank. Since the aggression began, at least 29,195 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed, with 69,170 others injured.
