Tensions are high in Jerusalem as extremist settlers storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque, under heavy guard by the Israeli occupation police. Despite calls from Jerusalemites to participate in the Great Dawn campaign tomorrow, Friday, dozens of illegal settlers organized provocative tours in the mosque’s courtyards and performed Talmudic rituals in the Bab al-Rahma area, east of the mosque.
The Islamic Endowments Department in occupied Jerusalem reported that settlers performed provocative dances at Bab al-Asbat, one of the gates of Al-Aqsa.
Amid strict restrictions on the entry of worshipers from Jerusalem and the occupied interior of Al-Aqsa, the occupation forces have escalated campaigns of deportations, arrests, and unfair summons against Jerusalemites and Al-Murabitun. There are fears that ahead of the massive illegal settlers’ incursions scheduled for next Sunday, the Holy City will be militarized with the transformation of the Old City and the area surrounding Al-Aqsa Mosque into military barracks.
The situation is also dire in the West Bank and Jerusalem, with the Israeli occupation forces launching raids and incursions, including confrontations in some areas and arrests of several Palestinians. Institutions concerned with prisoners’ affairs have also reported that occupation forces arrested a number of Palestinians from the West Bank.
As Jerusalem braces for more incursions and clashes, the Directorate of Education has announced the suspension of classes in schools in the town of Beita due to the current security conditions.
