Lebanese security services busted a network of Israeli spies, the acting director-general of the General Directorate of General Security announced on Friday.
Major General Elias Al-Baysari said the network comprised of two persons, adding that they were arrested at Beirut International Airport while attempting to flee the country.
“We carried out an investigation and determined that this cell posed a danger to Lebanon,” the official said further adding that the agents were referred to Lebanon’s military judiciary.
“The fight against terrorism is a priority and the fight against spy networks set up by the Israeli enemy is an absolute priority”, Al-Baysari said.
His comments came in a statement celebrating 78 years since the establishment of the directorate.
