The clashes happened after a large number of Israeli occupation soldiers entered the area, resulting in a confrontation with local Palestinian youths. The Israeli occupation forces used stun grenades, tear gas, and live bullets towards houses and individuals, including Faris, who was critically injured with a gunshot to the head. He died soon after being transported to a hospital.
This latest killing brings the total number of Palestinians killed this year to 202, which includes 37 children and 11 women. Following Faris’ death, mass arrests of Palestinians were carried out in several locations across the West Bank. Among those detained were Mohammad Fahmy Sorour, who was taken into custody while driving his car in Ni’lin, west of Ramallah, and journalist Yousef Shihadeh, who was injured while covering the confrontations in the Al-Tira neighbourhood of Ramallah.

The incursions carried out by Israeli occupation troops reportedly saw the establishment of military checkpoints in the area, while a group of settlers made their presence felt, leading to further tensions. Unarmed Palestinian youths reportedly came out to protest against the incursion and were met with tear gas, stun grenades, and live fire from the Israeli occupation forces, resulting in further violence and injury.
