Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed on Thursday the situation in Syria during a phone conversation, the Turkish NTV broadcaster reported, citing a diplomatic source.
Russia and Turkey are guarantors of a nationwide Syrian ceasefire that came into force on December 30, and has been holding up in general, despite continued reports of violations.
Along with Iran, Russia and Turkey were also mediators of the intra-Syrian talks that took place in the Kazakhstan’s capital of Astana on January 23 – 24.
