Le Drian started his meetings with the Lebanese officials in Ain Al-Tineh, discussing the latest developments pertaining Lebanon’s presidential elections with House Speaker Nabih Berri.
After the meeting, Le Drian left speechlessly, which Speaker Berri described the meeting as bold and positive.
Le Drian is scheduled to meet on Thursday with the caretaker PM Najib Mikati, Maronite Patriarch Beshara Al-Rai, and the heads of the parliamentary blocs in the framework of the same initiative.
Le Drian’s visit comes few days after the French President Emannuel Macron discussed the Lebanese file with the Saudi crown prince Mohammad bin Salman in Paris and one week after the 12th vote session failed to elect a new Lebanese president.
