Bahrain has been rocked by unrest since the regime launched in February 2011 a brutal crackdown against pro-democracy protesters demanding reforms in the Gulf Kingdom.
The country, ruled by the Al-Khalifa dynasty for more than two centuries, has a majority Shiite population which has long complained of marginalization.
