The Popular Arab and Islamic Congress Conference issued a statement pertaining the recent remarks about the normalization of ties with the Zionist entity.
The statement responded to some of the Transitional Military Council (TMC) officials who had voiced readiness to restore ties with the Zionist entity, stressing that such attempts, which forge the Sudanese will, have always failed.
The statement stressed that the interim government does not have the constitutional right to take such a strategic decision, adding that TMC’s sole mission is securing the transition into a democratic ruling system based on public elections.
The Popular Conference also called on all the Sudanese parties to engage in confronting the TMC’s attempt to prevent the democratic transition in Sudan and perpetuate its reign by gaining the support of ‘Israel’ and its allies.
Previously, the Sudanese foreign ministry announced that Abdel Fattah Burhan, Head of TMC, had hosted the Israeli foreign minister Elie Cohen, indicating that the conferees agreed on concluding a normalization deal.
For his part, Cohen mentioned that he submitted a draft deal to the Sudanese transitional authorities, adding that it will be signed later this year.
Palestine’s Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Popular Front as well as Yemen’s Ansarullah Movement denounced hosting Cohen in Sudan, calling for confronting TMC’s decision to normalize ties with the Zionist entity.
