Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amirabdollahian held on Friday in Beirut a press conference that sums up the outcomes of his meetings with the Lebanese officials, stressing that the discussions were fruitful and positive
Amirabdollahian reiterated his country’s readiness to help Lebanon in the field of electric power if the Lebanese authorities officially submit a request to Iran, illustrating the Iranian aid to Iraq in this regard.
Amirabdollahian had met with House Speaker, Nabih Berri, in Ain El-Tineh Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the presence of the accompanying delegation, Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, and “Amal Movement” Presidency Body member Dr. Khalil Hamdan.
Discussions during the meeting reportedly touched on the current general situation in Lebanon and the broad region, in addition to the bilateral relations between Lebanon and Iran.
Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Friday met at the Grand Serail with Amirabdollahian, with an accompanying delegation.
The delegation included Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official Spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, Minister Abdollahian’s Advisor and Bureau Chief, Mohammad Sadeq Fazli, Director General of the Middle East Department at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mahdi Shushtari, and Deputy Ambassador of the Iranian Republic to Lebanon, Hassan Khalili.
The meeting also took place in the presence of Caretaker Premier Mikati’s Diplomatic Advisor, Boutros Assaker.
Discussions during the meeting reportedly touched on the bilateral relations between Lebanon and Iran and ways to develop them, in addition to the current situation in the region.
During the meeting, Premier Mikati affirmed, “The conditions in Lebanon are difficult, but we endeavoring to manage the country’s affairs, and we have the faith and determination to work to get out of this ordeal.”
The Iranian Foreign Minister, in turn, stressed that “Iran will stand by Lebanon and support it in all circumstances, and wishes to develop relations and activate them at all levels.”
Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdullah Bou Habib, on Friday said during a joint press conference with his visiting Iranian counterpart, Amirabdollahian: “Amirabdollahian has shared Iran’s keenness on Lebanon’s stability, especially the importance of holding a successful presidential election.”
Bou Habib also stressed Lebanon’s mutual keenness on Iran’s stability, and its utter refusal against any foreign meddling in the internal affairs of other countries.
In turn, Minister Amirabdollahian stressed that “Iran will always and forever remain a loyal friend of Lebanon’s — in good times and bad times alike,” pointing out that cooperation between Iran and Lebanon reflects positively on the best interest of both peoples.
“A Lebanese technical team visited Iran and met with those concerned to secure fuel that Lebanon urgently needs for electricity,” Amirabdollahian added.
