An Iranian official said Tehran will ask Riyadh to safeguard the dignity of Iranian pilgrims during talks on the Hajj pilgrimage which will take place next month.
Caretaker of Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, Hamid Mohammadi, said on Wednesday that an Iranian delegation is due in Saudi Arabia on February 23m for talks with Saudi officials over Hajj pilgrimage.
If the two sides reach an agreement, the way will be paved for sending Iranian pilgrims to the next annual Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, Mohammadi said.
He said that in that round of talks, Iran will call on the Saudi side to safeguard the dignity of the Iranian pilgrims and guarantee their security during Hajj rituals.
It is more than a year that Iran and Saudi Arabia have severed diplomatic relations, Mohammadi said. However, he noted that Hajj is a right for every Muslim person and the grounds for sending Iranians to Hajj should be prepared.
