After holding a phone call with the Lebanese President, General Michel Aoun, the US energy envoy Amos Hochstein sent his final proposal on the maritime border demarcation to Lebanon and Zionist entity.
The Lebanese concerned authorities are scrutinizing Hochstein’s final draft in order to prepare and send back a response that secures the Lebanese rights.
President Aoun said that he hopes to complete all the arrangements related to the demarcation of the southern maritime borders within the next few days, after indirect negotiations led by Hochstein, have advanced a long way, and the gaps that were negotiated over the past week have narrowed down.
In addition, President Aoun considered that reaching an agreement on the demarcation of the southern maritime borders means the start of the process of exploration for oil and gas in the Lebanese fields located within the exclusive economic zone, which will achieve the beginning of a new impetus for the process of economic revival.
The political rivalry in the Zionist entity forced the enemy’s premier Yair Lapid to reject the Lebanese amendments to Hochstein’s recent proposal. However, the Israeli enemy acts under the pressure of Hezbollah threats, which makes observers expect a Zionist concession and approval of the latest US proposal.
Meanwhile, the latest Israeli media reports, including those published by Haarezt newspaper, confirmed a remarkable progress in the US-brokered talks on the maritime border demarcation.
