The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched a fresh round of attacks on terrorist groups’ positions as part of the recent anti-terror operation in Iraqi Kurdistan.
The IRGC Ground Force launched new artillery and rocket strikes against separatist terrorists in northern Iraq, on Saturday evening, after similar strikes were conducted on the 24, 26, and 28th of September.
On Friday, the IRGC ground forces announced that they launched 73 surface-to-surface ballistic missiles and dozens of drones that hit the headquarters of the terrorists in Iraqi Kurdistan.
The commander of the ground forces of the IRGC, Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour, said that “the bombing of the terrorist headquarters in northern Iraq was carried out with precision,” and explained that “the targets were scattered in 42 locations, sometimes 400 kilometers apart.”
“The chosen targets certainly belong to the terrorist groups working against Iran,” he said, asking the authorities in northern Iraq to expel all “the terrorist groups and conspirators” against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Pakpour stressed that “the operations will continue until the complete disarmament of the terrorist groups that are working against the Islamic republic.”
The IRGC announced Wednesday that it was launching an operation that included missile and armed drone strikes targeting the headquarters of the Komala and Kurdistan Democratic Party terrorist groups after the groups illegally sent armed individuals to Iranian cities in recent times.
A US national was killed in a rocket attack on the northern Iraqi region of Kurdistan, US State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel said on Thursday.
“We can confirm that a US citizen was killed as a result of a rocket attack in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region yesterday, but due to privacy considerations, I don’t have any further comments to provide,” Patel told a press briefing
