President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Monday met with House Speaker, Nabih Berri, at the Presidential Palace, with whom he discussed the general situation in the country, particularly in the south, in light of the ongoing Israeli attacks.
The discussion also touched on developments in the region following the Sharm el-Sheikh summit and the agreement on Gaza.
Following the meeting, Berri described the encounter as positive, saying: “Meetings are always excellent with His Excellency the President.”
According to Al-Manar sources, the meeting affirmed that the ceasefire agreement and the monitor committee are the guarantors of the situation currently, not anything else.
The meeting also maintained that the ceasefire monitor committee must be able to oblige the Israeli enemy to stop its violations, away from any other topic, including the direct talks.
